Answer to last week's question.

  • Jacob is the smooth skinned man that had a hairy brother.(His twin brother - Esau) [What smooth skinned man had a hairy brother?]

  • With that question, we conclude the "Bible Trivia" questions and answers that we have been running for quite some time. In the future, space permitting, we will offer facts and figures from the Bible that you might, or might not, know. Here is the first one: Did you know that the second most mentioned man in the Bible is DAVID whose name appears in the KJV 1,118 times?

Stacy Heinze was baptized into Christ on Saturday, and then on Sunday evening, Stacy and his parents, James and Becky Heinze placed membership here with us. See the printed bulletin in the foyer or ask a member for their address information.

Osiel & Barbara Games will be going to North Carolina to be with Jacob before his leaving for Iraq. Then they will stay with Amanda until after their baby, who is due on February 13th, is born.

We have one more week to get our Medina Home food donations in. Our total now stands at $705.00.


February 01 - All church pot-luck dinner
February 03 - Jacob Gamez leaves for duty in Iraq. He needs all of our prayers
February 06 - The "We Care" evangelistic organization will begin a three day training period for our Spanish Brethren. Everyone is invited. It will be conducted here at the building.
February 09 - College and young adult class members are invited to the Hobbs' for dinner and devotional. Be there at 6:30 P.M.
February 26 - The "We Care" evangelistic organization is starting a campaign in Marble Falls, working with church of Christ there. Bro. Jim Vinson is asking if there is any here who would like to, or be willing to, travel to Marble Falls and work a couple of days with this organization. He feels it would be well worth our time. See Jim for details.
February 28 - Third Semi-Annual leadership dinner. Speaker will be Bro. Perry Cotham from Grand Prairie. Bro. Cotham will also be teaching the Adult Bible class and delivering the morning sermon on the 29th. Make plans now to attend, both on the 28th and 29th.

Hebrews 13:17 -- It Is In The Bible!

     Hebrews 13:17 states, "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as they shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief; for this were unprofitable for you."
     The New Testament teaches, as Hebrews 13:17 explains, that the elders have authority in the local church. They do not have authority to change what the Lord has commanded -- Baptism, The Lord's Supper every Sunday, etc. Peter said in Acts 5:29, "We must obey God rather than men." However, as long as the elders do not usurp God's commandments, we must be in submission. Elders have authority in the realm of opinion and human liberty to make judgments that will expedite the Lord's work.
     In November 2003, the elders made a decision to enlarge the parking lot in the Spring of 2004. Let us support this decision the elders have made.
     Whenever the elders make any decision in the realm of opinion, let us support the decision. Jesus had an attitude of submission and we are instructed to follow His example (Phil. 2:5-11).
     This coming Sunday, February 1, we are having a pot-luck fellowship meal after our morning worship services. Invite someone to come and be with us. I look forward to seeing you with a smile and your Bible under your are this Sunday.
