Our Ladies Day and Gospel Meeting
What a weekend and week we will have as we enjoy the fellowship with our great and Awesome God and His wonderful word. We have been anticipating the idea of continually feasting in the word of God and of course having guests to come and be with us. This will be a time of fruitful spiritual growth and development and perhaps an op-portunity to share the gospel with someone who does not know Jesus Christ for the par-doning of their sins (Matt. 28.18-20). Our La-dies Day and Gospel Meeting will be educa-tional, enlightening, encouraging and be filled with eternal principles to help us make good decisions and live spiritual lives.
What will we learn from these lessons? We will learn to appreciate the simplicity of God’s will and way for our lives. Paul spoke of the simplicity that is in Christ and we should seek to not only learn that but demonstrate it in our lives as well (2 Cor. 11.3). As the people of God who serve Jesus Christ our Lord, we must choose godliness on a daily basis. Jesus would say it this way, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 9.23). The Lord’s will must be chosen daily by brethren. When we have lapse of judgment, this hinders our consistency as New Testament Christians.
It is the aim of every lesson to challenge and convince all of us to be transparent, honest and humble before God on a daily basis. Simply making the choice God would make enhances our lives and positions us to be influential to those in our circle of influence (Matt. 5.13-16). Being practical is the goal of these lessons as well. How can we truly love our neighbor as ourselves if we are not practicing on how to love God? Jesus said these words, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 1 4.15). We would say, “Well that’s simple enough.” However, we know the challenges of loving God, self and especially others. Cory Hall will be teaching us when we learn to love God, then we can work on being unified with others too. For this purpose we learn, “to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4.3).
It will be interesting to see the different format as well in our gospel meeting. John Paul Salazar will continue the great preaching on Sunday and Monday evening. He will teach and remind us of the need for seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and the beauty of the oneness of the church of Christ (Matt. 6.33-34; 1 Cor. 12.12-27). In Jesus’ great sermon on the mount, He emphasized the importance of enquiring, seeking (in order to find out), or striving after the kingdom or the church of Christ. This quest is constant, requires honesty and humility and will continue till the Lord returns to gather up the church and deliver it to the Father (1 Cor. 15.24).
What a privilege to have the opportunity to study the word of God together and hear about the oneness of the church and how she is separate from man-made churches. Jesus would say these words, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted” (Matt. 15.13). The devil has sown many seeds in the world and those seeds have become fruits he is using to assist them in their religious confusion and chaos (Matt. 13.24-30). Brethren, we need all of the education we can receive in this area to fortify us in the way of truth lest we find ourselves not believing there is one church. Again good brethren, this is why we must study and read the word of God for ourselves and see the distinctive nature of the church Jesus built (Matt. 16.18).
The Lord’s church is the only institution that is authorized to worship the Father in spirit and in truth (John 4.23-24). God forbid if we are guilty of vain worship, ignorant worship or will worship (Matt. 15.9; Acts 17.23; Col. 2.18). We have to approach our Father in the correct manner and really do our best to be attentive and intentional in our worship to Him. What an honor to sincerely come before Him in spirit and in truth. Brother Orr will help us in this endeavor and put us in remembrance of these great truths in the scriptures. It is in these great teachings we appreciate allowing the word of God to separate us from the defilements of the world to position us to serve God acceptably (Heb. 12.28).
In conclusion, as we seek to be well pleasing to the Lord and meet for the Master’s use, we want to simply be holy and without blame before Him in love. Friends, this will be a great Ladies Day and Gospel Meeting for us and it will be our blessing to make every opportunity we can to be spiritually fed and nourished in the words of faith and good doctrine (1 Tim. 4.6). Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess. 5.23). May the God of heaven bless our Ladies Day and Gospel Meeting with increase and find us faithful. God is True!
