Imagine one day you opened up the morning paper and saw on the front of it the following title in big bold letters: “Local Christian Rescues Man From Dying”. Would this not immediately draw your attention to read that specific section of the paper? Now what If I told you that your name could be recorded in Heaven’s periodical with that same title? In the book of Proverbs we read the following words: “ Deliver those who are drawn toward death, And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Surely we did not know this,’ Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?”  (Pro. 24:11, 12).   Brothers  and sisters, we have the honor and privilege of sharing the soul saving message of the gospel to those in our community. Let us not regard this obligation and responsibility we have to our God as burdensome; rather, let us be thankful and grateful that we can greatly impact the lives of others around us for good! Lets look at some practical ways on how to lead others to Christ.

Think about places you frequent and then consider those whom you’ve often seen in said places, whether they be an employee there or a customer. When interacting with these individuals I encourage you to share God’s Word with them. If you think about a Scripture that goes with what’s being spoken then simply share it. I remember once I noticed an elderly woman in a coffee shop I frequented who had an open Bible; I approached her, talked with her, and we began having Bible studies sometime afterwards. The opportunities you have to study with others may not be this obvious, however don’t let it stop you from asking others if they’d be interested in studying the Bible because their answer may surprise you.

Another thing to capitalize on is inviting people. In my everyday activities, whether it be going to H-E-B, Walmart, or walking to get my daily steps in, I make sure to carry 9th and Main cards. Why? When talking to various people, either in the aisles or on the sidewalk, I will give them an invitation to the services of the Church. Some refuse the offer and others accept it. Though some may accept the offer but never show up, let it not discourage you from continuing to do so. Remember, the Lord Jesus said: “‘go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding’” (Matt. 22:9). Speaking of inviting others, right now would be a great time to extend some invitations seeing as we have upcoming events such as our annual Ladies Day and Gospel Meeting.

You may be anxious as to what others will say or think in regard to the aforementioned; however let us not care what man may say or think. I encourage us to have the mindset of our brother Paul when he said: “I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith’” (Rom. 1:14-17).

We only have so many hours in the day and a limited time on the Earth. It’s in our best interest to make the most of our time. Those whom you already have relationships or bonds with, please go to them first to share the truth of God’s word. Additionally, share the gospel of Christ with those whom you work with. This will help you to save time, in that you won’t be going out to meet new people and make new relationships in order to share the gospel.

In closing, I want to leave you with a passage of Scripture from Matthew’s Gospel account: “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest’” (Matt. 9:35-38).
