Let’s Get To Work!

Just as the apostles received their mission from the Lord Jesus to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, so have we in a sense from our dear brother Rob (Matt. 28.18-20). Furthermore, just as they were taught the ways to go about doing good, so have we as it relates to the compassion cards. What a blessing it is to be positioned to actually succeed in working along-side Jehovah in bringing men and women to His Son Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 3.9). Let us take what we have learned and apply it to the things we know currently and get to work.

Brethren, this is actually the best time to not only get involved with the work at 9th & Main, but to encourage others to get involved and to work. See brethren, as the apostle Paul wrote the brethren at Ephesus of the function of the body of Christ and all doing their share, we need to take notice of his inspired words, in chapter 4:16, “from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which EVERY PART does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love”. Brethren, we need all hands on deck, therefore, we need to know where you can help. LET’S GET TO WORK!

Remember how the church, when they were persecuted, went everywhere preaching the word of God? (Acts 8.1-4). We need to keep this in the forefront of our minds as we consider the boost we just received from Rob this week. How can we stir one another on to love and good works from this point forward (Heb. 10.24)? How can we help one another to grow in courage, strength and stamina as the church of Christ in San Angelo? How can the leaders help with opportunities of doing good? Friends, it is a great time for us to be members of the congregation now. LET’S GET TO WORK!

Man who is born of woman is of a few days and full of trouble (Job 14.1). It is actually the troubles of life which positions us to demonstrate the true work of the church. Again, remember the words of the apostle Paul to the church of Ephesus in chapter two verse ten? Notice, “for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”. Just as Jesus went about doing good, He has commissioned the bride to go and do likewise (Acts 10.38). Just as the Devil oppressed many during the days of Christ, people are being lured away by their own lust and trouble is being experienced on all types of levels (Matt. 4.24). Being laborers together with the God of
all comfort, we can seek to comfort those who are in need of comfort (2 Cor. 1.3-4). We do not have to go far to find those afflicted by sin and trouble brethren. LET’S GET TO WORK!

So how can we get to work? If we can truly get all on board in simply resolving to be holy, let us begin right there (1 Pet. 1.15-16). Why begin here? Because of the effort needed to have our minds on spiritual things and not carnal (Col. 3.1-5). This is vitally important in carrying out the great commission of God (Matt. 28.18-20). Furthermore, we need everyone who wants to put their hand to the work to sincerely let us know where you can assist in the work. Just as those who aided in the rebuilding of the wall and gates (Nehemiah’s time) we need to know where you want to be and then let us get to work. Finally, we need to all keep in mind our responsibility of planting and watering and that it is the God of heaven who gives the increase in His vineyard (1 Cor. 3.6). LET’S GET TO WORK!

The elders are excited about our work together and would like to extend our love and care for every member here. We know life has a way of throwing curve balls, however, as the people of God, we know that we are more than conquerors (Rom. 8.34-36). We will continue to work together for the cause of Christ and seek to glorify God in the church (Eph. 3.20-21). So let us simply work together for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace and really urge one another to do what we can for the kingdom of God’s sake (Eph. 4.1-3). Remember, one soul at a time and do not grow weary in well doing (Gal. 6.9). LET’S GET TO WORK!
